Meet our new pet

Most full time RVer's have pets.  We found this cute little kitty today and decided to give hime a home.
He's going to be purrrfect for our RV.  He's going to give a cheerful greeting to my RV neighbors.  Right now we're calling him Kitty.  I'm sure we'll come up with a bettter name once we get to know him better.

The New Adventures of the Old Pat and Dale

Welcome to the new adventures of the old Pat and Dale - 65 & Still Alive.  We have 10 more days on the job and our RV retirement adventures will begin.

We took the 5th wheel on a tweaking trip last weekend.  It was starting to snow when we left on our 2 hour trip north  to our daughter's.  It was snowing pretty hard when we arrived at our RV spot but it didn't last long and there was no accumulation.  As soon as we connected the water we found a couple of leaks.  We found a leak at the  kitchen faucet and a leaky connection at the washer/dryer unit.  Everything else worked great.  There was some hydraulic fluid leaking from one of the slides so we've taken it in to have that repaired.  All should be ready to go by May 1st.  That's our estimated date of departure.  We want to be in Grand Portage, MN by May 15th and we have a few stops to make along the way.  The Mall of America for one.

We're selling the house and have sold just about everything that the kids don't want.  We'll be having a yard sale in a couple of weeks and will sell off the last of the necessary stuff we've been hanging on to..like the TV, washer and dryer and refrigerator..oh and all that stuff the kids didn't want.  Once that's gone we'll start living in the 5er full time.

We will be volunteering with the National Park Services at the Grand Portage Living Monument in Grand Portage, MN from May till September. It's going to be so fun. We are going to be dressed like they were during the 1780's fur trading era.  We'll be working in the visitor center or some of the several historical buildings they have there.....canoe building, kitchen, garden.....telling visitors what it was like during that time period.
From the photos we've seen....it's gorgeous there, on Lake Superior.  We'll be 5 miles from the Canadian border.  Don't worry we've got our passports.
